2027: Ogun West Leaders, Youths Rally Behind Adebutu, Endorse Governorship Bid

Thousands of residents and political stakeholders from Ogun West Senatorial District on Wednesday gave the governorship ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, a major boost as they publicly endorsed his bid ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Adebutu received a rousing welcome in Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa South Local Government Area, where a massive crowd of Yewa indigenes, PDP supporters, youth groups and community leaders declared their support for his candidature, insisting it was “Adebutu or no one else” in the forthcoming election.

Speaking at the endorsement rally held at Tetede Hall, Ilaro, a leader of the Believe Movement from Imeko-Afon Local Government Area, Chief Akinbami Lukman, said members of the group resolved to back Adebutu in the overall interest of Ogun State and its people.

According to Lukman, the movement has fully aligned with the PDP and is committed to mobilising voters across the district to ensure Adebutu’s victory at the polls. He assured the governorship candidate that members of the group would work tirelessly to ensure that every legitimate vote counts.

Also addressing the gathering, the leader of the Door-to-Door Foot Soldiers, Mr. Jimoh Azeez, expressed confidence that the youth would play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the election, noting that Nigerian youths are now more politically conscious and determined to defend their votes.

“We won’t say they will write the results. We will mobilise, vote and stand by our votes. Our ruling class should know that it is a new dawn. They can continue going round meeting political leaders and traditional rulers, but we are the people on the ground. They will be shocked. We will protect Yewa’s turn for a true son of the soil with no controversy,” Azeez declared.

Several other speakers praised the Adebutu family for its longstanding philanthropic contributions to the less privileged, despite not occupying public office. They expressed confidence that an Adebutu administration would prioritise the welfare of the people and ensure that the state’s resources are deployed for meaningful development.

Representatives of the Awori community also endorsed Adebutu’s governorship aspiration, stressing that their support was based on his personal qualities, leadership capacity and commitment to the progress of Ogun State rather than political affiliations or sectional interests. They described him as the candidate capable of protecting the dignity and future of the state.

Responding to the overwhelming endorsement, Adebutu expressed profound gratitude to the people of Ogun West for the confidence reposed in him. He said he was deeply humbled by the warm reception accorded him from the entrance into Ilaro up to the venue of the rally.

The PDP governorship candidate noted that he had consistently supported the governorship aspirations of qualified Yewa sons, irrespective of political affiliations, including Gboyega Isiaka and Abiodun Akinlade, whenever they contested for the state’s highest office.

Adebutu assured the people of Ogun West that, if elected governor, he would pursue policies that would accelerate development across the senatorial district and other parts of the state.

“I am delighted by the determination and unity I have witnessed here today. Democracy belongs to the people, and your votes remain your strongest voice. We have only one Ogun State, and together we must protect and build our common heritage,” he said.

Earlier, Adebutu and members of his campaign entourage paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the traditional ruler of Ilaro, where they were received by members of the traditional council before proceeding to the endorsement rally.
