The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the Nigerian Navy have reaffirmed their commitment to closer collaboration in safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime domain, as officers and men of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Quorra paid a study visit to the NIMASA Operational Base in Kirikiri, Lagos.
The visit was designed to broaden the officers’ knowledge of Nigeria’s maritime laws, safety regulations, and NIMASA’s statutory responsibilities, while also strengthening the existing partnership between the Agency and the Nigerian Navy in promoting maritime security and safety.
Receiving the delegation, NIMASA’s Director of Marine Environment Management, Dr. Oma Ofodile, underscored the importance of sustained inter-agency collaboration in addressing evolving maritime challenges. She reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to working closely with the Nigerian Navy and other relevant stakeholders to enhance maritime safety, bolster security, and protect Nigeria’s marine environment.
The study tour reflects the growing synergy between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy, with both institutions continuing to leverage their complementary mandates to secure Nigeria’s territorial waters, promote safe navigation, and support the sustainable development of the nation’s blue economy.
