Tinubu Hails NIMASA’s Strides, Backs Mobereola for Bigger Maritime Breakthrough

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for the progress recorded under its current leadership, charging the Director-General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, and his team to sustain the momentum and pursue even greater milestones in Nigeria’s maritime sector.

President Tinubu gave the commendation when he received the NIMASA Director-General in audience at the State House, Abuja, where they reviewed developments in the maritime industry and explored measures to further unlock its vast economic potential.

During the meeting, Mobereola briefed the President on key developments at NIMASA over the past two years, outlining the agency’s achievements, ongoing initiatives and challenges confronting the maritime sector.

The engagement underscores the Federal Government’s renewed determination to reposition the maritime industry as a major driver of economic growth, investment and job creation.

President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the sustained development of the sector, stressing that the establishment of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy was a deliberate policy decision aimed at harnessing Nigeria’s vast maritime resources.

According to the President, the sector must be positioned to make a significantly greater contribution to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) while creating opportunities for Nigerians and strengthening the country’s economic base.

He urged NIMASA and other stakeholders in the maritime sector to remain focused, build on the gains already achieved and intensify efforts to translate Nigeria’s enormous maritime potential into tangible economic benefits for the nation.
