The Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, mni, has clocked 69 amid an unprecedented outpouring of goodwill, with family members, friends, professional colleagues, old school associations and community groups celebrating his remarkable life of service, leadership and dedication to humanity.

Born on 1 September 1957 into the respected Nadabo family in Kankara, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has carved an impressive career spanning education, public administration, the Nigeria Customs Service and traditional leadership. His journey, spanning nearly seven decades, has been defined by discipline, integrity, professionalism and an enduring commitment to the welfare and development of his people.

 

 

His educational journey took him from Primary School in Kankara to Government Secondary School, Malumfashi, where he was a student between 1970 and 1974. He proceeded to the Katsina College of Arts and Science, Zaria, in 1978, before gaining admission to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, where he studied Political Science and graduated in 1981. He also later attended the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, further broadening his exposure to leadership and national affairs.

His career in the Nigeria Customs Service was particularly distinguished. Rising through the ranks to become a Comptroller of Customs, he headed several units and commands, where he earned recognition for leadership, discipline, professionalism, revenue mobilisation and dedication to national service. That wealth of administrative and institutional experience has since found expression in his traditional leadership role.

As Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, he has brought to the traditional institution decades of public-service experience, administrative competence and leadership exposure. Under his stewardship, he has remained deeply committed to peace, unity, community development and the advancement of his people, earning the respect and affection of a broad network of associates and well-wishers.

The birthday celebration has triggered a wave of felicitations from organisations and associations connected to his remarkable journey. Among those celebrating him are the Malumfashi Old Boys Association, 1970–1974 Set; ABU Zaria 1978–1981 Set; Association of Alumni of the National Institute (AANI), particularly holders of the distinguished mni title; and Customs Course 1/1982, his professional colleagues in the Nigeria Customs Service.

Also sending warm birthday greetings are members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ketare Youth Development Association (KADEYMA), Ketare District Development Association (KDDA), as well as numerous friends, associates and community development groups who have continued to acknowledge his contributions to society.

At 69, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara stands as a remarkable blend of professional excellence, traditional authority, institutional experience and community service. From his formative years in Kankara and Malumfashi, through his university education at ABU Zaria and further studies at NIPSS Kuru, to his distinguished Customs career and present responsibilities as Kanwan Katsina and District Head of Ketare, his life reflects a long and consequential journey of service.

As tributes continue to pour in, family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers have prayed Almighty Allah to grant him long life, sound health, wisdom, peace and renewed strength, and to preserve him for many more years of service to Ketare, Kankara, Katsina State and Nigeria.
